Overall – this was an excellent first holiday with Inntravel. We were very impressed with all the Inntravel staff we had contact with, both for speed of response and their knowledgeable enthusiasm about Mallorca, and the paces we were visiting. We particularly liked the fact that flights were booked whilst we were on the phone. On Mallorca, we found locals and tourists to be very friendly, and helpful when needed. If you pay for the buses with card, the prices are discounted, we paid cash (euros) on the Airport bus. #
Week in Soller – a lovely base, large enough to head off in different directions to explore. Dduring the day the centre can get busy with cruise day trippers. The centre also got busy on the evening of October 31st – they take Halloween very seriously, and it was fun to see youngsters and families out dressed up, and enjoying themselves. El Guia where we stayed was a very good hotel in an excellent location – close to the centre, but on a quiet street and not very far from the taxi rank and tram stops. Even in early November there was a good selection of places to eat in the evening and the bakeries would make up rolls for picnic lunches. We were impressed with Inntravel’s paper based walk instructions, which we took out as needed in A4 clear plastic pockets – very detailed, and a big plus in that it stopped us staring at a mobile screen (we do have mapping on the mobile and it was useful on occasion). Inntravel provided a good selection of walks. We used a taxi to get to Cuber Reservoir – at the taxi rank there was a list of fixed prices and at 32 euros (plus tip) it was a lot less than we thought it might be. The weather in November was mixed, but generally good – we walked in shorts. The public transport system is good – we used the airport bus and then a local bus for the transfers, but be aware they can get very crowded.
Palma – four night extension – our hotel was large, but friendly and was very well located, and had the big plus of a kettle in the room, which we didn’t expect. We did a mix of sight seeing and using the buses to walk/explore further afield. We used the Mallorca Walk & Eat Sunflower Guide, which we found useful, but not as detailed as Inntravel’s notes. Inntravel’s guided town trail was very good. The queue for the Cathedral wasn’t long, but you could book & pay online and then walk up to the front. Again there were plenty of places to eat out, both at lunchtime and in the evening.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This customer did our Discovery Walking Holiday 'Citrus Groves & Dramatic Coast' at Hotel El Guia, followed by a city add-on in Palma.
We had a fabulous week, thoroughly enjoying the walks, the hotel and the town of Soller. Ca's Curial was really quite special and well worth the cost of the upgrade. The staff were very amicable and helpful. Our favourite walks were the ones to Cala Tuent, down the Biniaraix gorge and around Valldemossa. We took a taxi to Valldemossa and returned by bus, a thrilling ride along the coastal road. (Some of the footpath signs on the Valldemossa walk have changed which is a little confusing but Inntravel's walk directions are correct.)

We've stayed in the Soller area several times before but chose to travel with Inntravel for the accuracy of their walking notes. We were not disappointed and found paths we'd struggled to locate before. Wonderful weather and hotel was in perfect location. Lots of great places to eat to close by. Highly recommend visit to Can Prunera Art Gallery and Museum. Wonderful Art Deco house.
We had an enjoyable stay at the Ca'l Bisbe hotel which was in a quiet location very close to the town centre. The staff were friendly and helpful. The walks selected by Inntravel were excellent and covered most of the region, and were easy to follow. The highlight for us was the walk from Cuber Reservoir through the Biniaraix Gorge. The scenery was spectacular. There was even a small welcoming bar in Biniaraix to have a drink before the final stroll back to Soller. There were plenty of places to eat in Soller but booking even in March was essential. Particularly enjoyed Ca'n Pinxto and La Romaguera but Sa Granja was also good for a more casual meal.
This was we think our 13th Inntravel holiday and almost certainly the best. The hotel was excellent in every respect, accommodation, food and staff. Its location was also great for exploring the very attractive town of Soller and for accessing walks in the spectacular mountains, taking advantage of the excellent bus service and the trams and the train, the terminus for both being just outside the hotel.
Personal highlight was the descent from the Cuber reservoir through the Barranc de Biniaraix wonderful views out over the Med but an incredible cobbled path through the gorge made by pilgrims 2000+ years ago. A MUST SEE on this holiday I'd say.
We ate out at The Hotel Guia for 3 evening meals for good local Mallorcan dishes at reasonable price and plenty to eat. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant and helpful. They recommended the Paella.... the chef in the kitchen had been preparing Paella for 44 years... he should know what he`s doing by now they said. And he didn`t disappoint.
This is a very beautiful area with mountains and orchards of lemons and oranges. Some of the climbing was quite hard, but then the extensive views made it worth the effort. We enjoyed seeing the colourful flowers and magnificent trees as we wandered along.
The staff at Ca'l Bisbe were exceptionally friendly and helpful - lending us an umbrella and printing out various timetables etc
The holiday itself was excellent but travelling through Palma Airport is highly stressful especially on the way home. It is advisable to arrive there on the journey home well before the usual 2 hours in advance because of the queues to get through the baggage drop , security and the the exit passport checks. Some people were getting very anxious indeed about the prospect of missing their flights. It's not a good experience at all. Quite the opposite.
Sóller is a stunning location with fabulous cafes and restaurants within a short walk of the hotel. The walks were enjoyable and very scenic.
Soller is such a pretty town with the added delight of the adorable tram tootling through the square up and down to the port. The wonderful old train to Palma was a fun experience as well. Good bus connections to other towns and also the 231 to Alcudia via Cuber was also still running which drops you off at the start of the reservoir to walk back to Soller. This bus also goes past the Mirador de Ses Barques so you could get this rather than a taxi. There are many restaurants and cafes to choose from offering traditional food with some excellent places also offering new inventive tapas creations. We were spoilt for choice! Beware the popular spots need to be booked in advance.
All the walks we did were lovely. We did not attempt the longer one-way walks which would have involved a taxi or boat, which would have been good but the weather was unusually hot for September.
HIGHLIGHTS & TIPS: We took a taxi to Cuber Reservoir and did the walk to Puig Offre. The views were amazing, and we met lots of donkeys. The tram to Port Soller was fun, as was the train to Palma. Even though this was September the weather was very hot and humid, and I would definitely recommend people to check the weather forecast closely before travel so that they have the right clothes. We also very much enjoyed the restaurant just down the street from the hotel - Sa Cuina den Marc. We ate there twice. And also Bistro Scholl Soller was excellent on Carrer de la Victoria 11 maig just before you get to Carrer de sa Lluna.
Perfectly tailored grade 2 walking holiday. Excellent location and very relaxing.
Quite an expensive holiday.
It was a lovely holiday in a place we had never been to before. An excellent hotel in a good position for the town and the walks. The tram gave the town a unique character. Despite the heat we found shade amongst the trees and the hotel pool to spend the afternoon in or by.
I have used Inntravel before, over the years, for a good number of trips and have never been disappointed. I was travelling this time with a different friend from my usual. It is her first time travelling with Inntravel and she was extremely impressed. She loved the hotel (you always deliver on these!) the location/setting, all travel arrangements (transfers) and of course, the detail in your walk notes! I think it would be fair to that she would also recommend Inntravel.
Our whole holiday was very enjoyable Soller has not been ruined by tourism and still remains a charming spanish town. The local transport was excellant and we didn't feel the need for a car Our hotel was an oasis of peaceful tranquillity and the breakfast buffet was truly amazing.
Ca's Curial was a wonderful place to stay. A beautiful, tranquil location surrounded by orange groves and beautifully kept gardens, yet within easy walking distance of town. Andres was so welcoming and helpful, always available with help and advice when needed. Our rooms (garden suite and garden terrace suite) were spacious, well equipped and comfortable, with lovely views of the surrounding hills. The buffet breakfasts - with eggs, bacon, crepes cooked to order - in addition to the amazing range of fruit, cheeses, charcuterie and daily changing sweet and savoury pastries and cakes, were the best we have ever had. A very fine paella cooked by Andres's mother was served one evening. We were not surprised to find from conversations with other guests that almost all were on return visits. We certainly hope to return before too long.
Great holiday, our visit coincided with the Feria and Firó festivals (2nd week in May) which were fantastic, anarchic, very noisy and great fun. We stayed in the Hotel Ca'l Bisbe, paying extra for an upgraded room. Staff in the hotel were friendly, it's very clean and offers a lovely breakfast. We pretty much did all the walks around Soller which were all nice and varied, we had to get a taxi back from Deia though as the bus was full (the notes warn you that this may be an issue). We had a day trip to Palma on the narrow-gauge railway and enjoyed visiting all the churches and museums recommended by Inntravel. Food highlight was a visit to Ca'n Pintxo Restaurant, there is plenty of choice to suit all tastes both in Soller and the nearby port. Overall one of the best Inntravel holidays.
TIP: The walk to Fornalutx could be made a circular walk by returning to Soller by road rather than simply retracing the paths from Soller to the town used in the ascent. The road back carries very little traffic and is very easy walking.
The walks suggested by Inntravel were just right - long enough to feel we'd been challenged, but leaving enough time to enjoy the hotel pool. The information about each walk were very detailed and very accurate - it would have been difficult to get lost!
All the walks were different in sensory, physical characteristics , and landscape/ views. All were delightful in their individual ways. It seemed Ca's Curial was too far out of town. We really liked the location of Ca'l Bisbe. We ate at La Limona but very few menu choices, especially for a gluten free diet! Very good restaurants were an Indian restaurant in Soller, and the restaurant right next to it. Sandra, at Ca'l Bisbe, knew of both restaurants.
Although in mid April we were too late for the almond blossom, the orange blossom and jasmine perfumed most of the walks. The Cuber Reservoir walk was very hard on the knees going downhill for 4 km, our taxi driver said we would have been wiser to do it uphill, but the views were incredible. The buses 131 and 132 go to the reservoir at weekends and holidays. Do not catch it at the bus bay in Soller, but the bus stop on the main road, even though it appears to be setting off in the wrong direction. Contactless cards can be used on all buses. Our best meal was at Luna 36, although expensive. Romaguera was a bit disappointing. Delightful little Picasso ceramics exhibition at Soller station, free but not open every day.
The problem with Inntravel is that every holiday we go on - and we've inntravelled to Slovenia, France, mainland Spain and Italy - is the best. This trip to Mallorca had the usual brilliant hotel choice, fabulous walks carefully described and delicious food. The hotel staff couldn't have been friendlier. We enjoyed some of the restaurants but best of all was the fruit, cheese and sausage from the weekly market, and bread from the third baker along Carrer de la Lluna. The magical scent of walking amid citrus blossom will sustain us for many months. All in all, the best. So far.
Great bird life - in April we saw many swifts, kites, buzzards, Sardinian warblers, heard our first wryneck and saw one of the Island's 200 or so black vultures as well as hundreds of sparrows and chaffinches! Recommend the boat trip to Sa Calobra and, conditions permitting, a walk in the Canyon at Torrent de Pareis. I can also recommend daring a swimming pool plunge at the hotel even in mid-April!
We would have preferred to have gone to CasCurial but there was no availability. The hotel Ca'l Bisbe is a fine alternative. We were glad we paid for the room upgrade. The staff are attentive. The recommended Restaurants were all good. In addition we particularly liked Casta Rosa and La Romaguera.
Midday temperatures were up to 24C for a couple of days which in early March was unusual and meant we paced ourselves and elected not to do the longer walks. The taxi transfers were excellent. The add on day in Palma is worthwhile.
Evening meal in Soller Square was delightful with a lovely family atmosphere, live music and great food, definitely a highlight. Views down Biniaraix gorge on the Cuber reservoir walk were stunning.
Buses, trams and trains were all on time which made getting around very easy.
Useful tip: at the end of October we weren't really expecting mosquitoes but there are a fair few about and they are savage!
We enjoyed eating out in Soller at several restaurants. We arrived Sunday and Ca's Curial do not serve dinner on Saturday or Sunday, however they spent time highlighting on a street map where there were good places. On the Sunday we ate at Sa Cuina D En Marc which was a short distance from the rear entrance - a typical Mallorcan menu and good value. The outstanding restaurant we visited was La Romaguera, menu was tapas, staff very friendly and helpful, food delicious, need to book. We went twice.
Fabulous hotel and location in Soller which is great base for walkers. Walks quite challenging but not too long allowing time for the sea or swimming pool later. Great choice of bars and restaurants a short walk away - what's not to like. Plus - walk directions so good we didn't get lost once!
We loved the comfort, cleanliness and character of the hotel Ca'l Bisbe and would not hesitate to stay there again.
Bastian on reception was super helpful with finding buses and other information to help on our walks as he was obviously familiar with the area. Also want to mention Freddi who looked after us in the bar and restaurant and made some excellent local wine recommendations!
On our walks the scenery was quite stunning with mountain views over the sea some days, and peaceful walks in dramatic olive terraces, on other days. Most definitely a different world from our everyday lives at home. Very good for the soul! One of our favourite locations was the nearby village of Fornalutx, which we visited twice just to sit and have coffee in the pretty central square.
We ate in a variety of local places in Soller and food was uniformly good and at reasonable prices. We were glad we had tried your recommendation of Can Pintxo on our last night. Here we found food of a tremendously high standard with a modern twist, in a restaurant with a buzzy atmosphere. Luckily we booked ahead as it was full most of the evening.
The location of resort and hotel were perfect for walking in the area. The walks were challenging but rewarding for the spectacular views. The restaurants in Soller were excellent our favourite being La Limona.
We really loved our stay at Ca's Curial. Lovely accomodation, spacious grounds filled with orange groves, and a few chickens and rabbits. Plus, brilliant service from all the team, an excellent breakfast and delicious dinners. The hotel was well located for Soller - a really charming place to spend time, with the train/tram and a great selection of restaurants.
The walking was lovely - a really nice mix of trails in the surrounding hills. We'd also recommend bringing mosquito repellent!
Really enjoyed the walks and the information was excellent
Another warm welcome from Andreas and team at Cas Curial. A new highlight for us was an easy walk from Soller to Biniaraix and onto Fortnalutx using backroads on the opposite side of the valley from your walk which takes in Binibassi and then onto Fotalutx. the combined make a good circular route of the valley.
New (to us) eating out places - Bistro Scholl Soller Carrer de La Victoria 11 Maig. Friendly reasonably priced meals to suit all tastes, deserves to be discovered. Bistro Oliviers in fish market, Palma. Excellent!,
The hotel was one of our highlights. Excellent position close to town & easy access to buses.
The Soller tram was good fun and a lovely way to return from Port Soller.
Our tip for a day in Palma would be bus there and the Vintage Train back - a real highlight!
Buses - we did find that they were very popular, which is good. However, we would recommend getting to the bus stop in good time (early!) to avoid disappointment.
We would personally recommend lunch at the Esplendido Hotel in the Port area of Soller. I had my birthday lunch in the bistro which was very good and popular with locals too. The service and staff were excellent.
We have been to Majorca many times but normally go to Puerto Pollenca. We decided to try Soller in order to see a different side of the island and also upgraded to Ca's Curial. Are we glad we did. The hotel is superb, the location is great, the staff are delightful and the food is wonderful. The walks provided by Inntravel are excellent although we were limited in the number we could do due to the high temperatures and high humidity levels whilst we were there (locals said it was unusual for the time of year and even they were suffering!). I would highly recommend this holiday.
We particularly enjoyed meals at Can Alumina Can Pintx in Soller and Es Canyis in Port de Soller.
A beautiful town and lovely hotel in a perfect location with friendly and helpful staff. Super clean too. Many guests return again!!
The holiday confirmed our good experience of Inntravel.
The beautiful walks through the orange and lemon groves were a highlight of the holiday. The food at a local restaurant was fantastic, Ca'n Gata and the staff were brilliant at providing vegetarian options and superb Mallorca wines.
Our accommodation was beyond our expectations and we are planning a return visit next May.
The festival was a bonus, we enjoyed the music, dancing and street entertainment.
We had a glorious holiday in Soller. We stayed at Ca's Curial which was wonderful. Our room was very spacious and the hotel itself is like a little oasis smelling of orange blossom and in easy walking distance (10 minutes) from the town centre. The staff could not have been more helpful. Breakfasts are superb and the dinners were excellent too, show-casing some tasty Mallorcan cuisine. We ate out a few times and would recommend Luna 36 and Petiti Celler cas Carreter.
We walked every day and found the walks to be varied and well marked. We particularly enjoyed the Fornalutz/Mirador walk although we did it the other way round ending up at Fornalutz for a late lunch. We also enjoyed the walk down from the lake - it's only 20 minutes or so by taxi - although going down is hard work on the knees, it's a good path and well worth it. The walk to the Refuge is interesting too.
Antonio, the taxi driver, is a well informed and friendly local. He had lots of great tips and also recommended a fantastic restaurant for our brief stay in Palma - Celler Sa Premsa. Antonio was always prompt and courteous and drove us with care and consideration.
All in all, a really wonderful and well organised holiday!
The heady perfume of orange blossom as you walk through the citrus groves is something I shall always remember. I loved the walks through the countryside to the beautiful stone villages in the Mallorcan mountains. Travelling at the end of April, I was lucky to enjoy six days of sunny weather with the chance to sit under the lemon tree and relax by the hotel pool at the end of the day.
Recommendations: Miga de Nube slow coffee atelier - where art and good coffee meet in pretty surroundings. Interesting cakes and meals all locally sourced. They have a lovely courtyard behind the cafe but close at 4.00pm. If you have done too much walking and want a relaxing morning I can recommend a visit to the Ecovinyassa orange grove for a relaxing tour of the farm followed by a light snack, which is included in the ticket. All in all the holiday was delightful, lovely hotel, friendly staff, no problems with flights, airports or Covid thank heavens. Hope to return sometime to do the Archdukes trail around Valldamossa.
Excellent holiday in a beautiful setting. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful providing local knowledge and assistance where needed. The self guided walks from one centre enabled us to select walks of varying distance as we felt able. The walks were well directed and allowed us to explore the surrounding countryside of Soller which was beautiful with the many orange, lemon and olive groves and wild spring flowers. Local bus services were cheap any easy to use, but very busy at peak times.
Soller is a great base for walking from with no need to hire a car. Public transport was really good.
Given that our arrival and departure days were cloudy and wet, we were delighted that we were able to enjoy each hiking day in ideal weather conditions. The main square was very accessible from our hotel and was a hive of activity each day and, particularly, for pre-dinner drinks. We tried a range of restaurants for both lunch and evening meals - two stand outs were Ca'n Llimona and Sa Granja.
