Cycling holidays in Portugal

The Algarve to Minho, relaxed and carefree
Our cycling holidays in Portugal have a wide appeal: besides the glorious scenery, there are opportunities for bird-watching, and fascinating history and traditions to discover. You have plenty of time to appreciate all this on our carefully researched routes, which are described in easy-to-read notes. And because there’s no group, no arrangements to make (we do all that), and no luggage, you can be spontaneous, stopping for a lunch of fresh fish or to gaze at the reflections on the water.

Find the right holiday for you

What to expect from your cycling holiday in Portugal

There are three key ingredients which are common to all Inntravel holidays, including our cycling holidays in Portugal: sublime landscapes; delightful hotels hand-picked for their warm welcome; and flavoursome local cuisine.

Are our cycling holidays in Portugal right for you?

The flat terrain makes for easy cycling in Portugal’s Aveiro and Minho regions, giving you plenty of time to make the most of your surroundings. To be sure that our cycling holidays in Portugal are right for you, take a look at the definitions of our cycling grades below. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, bear in mind that the cycling will be considerably easier.)

  • Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
  • Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
  • Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
  • Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs. (We don't currently have any holidays at this level.)

On a self-guided cycling holiday in Portugal, we provide a high-quality bike, our lovingly compiled route notes and maps, and luggage transfers, so that you can meander from one wonderfully located hotel of character to the next at entirely your own pace.
