For such a small group of islands, the British Isles boast many diverse landscapes, ranging from the neat farmland of the south to the remote mountains of the far north, with several outstandingly beautiful national parks – not least the Cairngorms, Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia, Yorkshire Dales, Lake District and Peak District – in between.
Each of the areas in which Inntravel offers walking holidays and breaks has its own distinctive features – in Northumberland, Devon and Fife it is the magnificent coastline; while in Shropshire it is the wealth of Norman castles. The Scottish Borders have their gloriously bucolic countryside and historic monuments; and in Norfolk we love the salt marshes, dunes and beaches which are a haven for birds and seals. In the South Downs we are always struck by those views from the ridgeway, while in the Thames Valley we love the contrast between vibrant towns and tranquil riverbank. On Jersey and Guernsey, sandy bays are guarded by historic forts and watchtowers; and in Dorset, you will find the kind of timeless, high-hedged lanes that you can imagine Tess of the d'Urbervilles walking along.
