Everything about our gentlest walking holidays is easy – not just the terrain, but the arrangements too. We provide maps, our carefully compiled route notes, and luggage transfers if you’re walking from hotel to hotel, so that you can walk self-guided at entirely your own pace.
You don’t need to be a seasoned walker or fit enough to walk for miles and miles over rugged terrain to enjoy an Inntravel walking holiday – our holidays are all about seeing a region up close, not bagging peaks. We encourage you to pause at every opportunity, be it a monument, a viewpoint or a craftsman’s workshop. There’s no luggage to weigh you down, and, with no group, it’s you who sets the pace.
You can rely on us to select accommodation of character and to provide trustworthy route notes to guide you there, so relax and enjoy…
Our easy walking holidays explore regions which are generally flat, but nevertheless picturesque and varied, such as Spain’s Catalan Coast, where you can pause in inviting coves for a dip in the sea, or France’s Loire Valley, whose magnificent châteaux make for a very interesting holiday. Other destinations you can explore on an easy walking holiday include Northumberland, Norfolk, Lake Constance and the Côte d’Azur (all of which combine walking with cultural visits), as well as Jersey and even the Italian Dolomites!
How our walking holidays are graded
Inntravel’s grade 1 walking holidays are the easiest that we offer (see our grading system below), and are suitable for any occasional walker in general good health. If you’d like to take things very easy, choose a holiday on which you don’t have to walk every day, or build in extra nights.
Grade 1
These gentle strolls range typically between 5-10km per day and involve few ascents or descents. Go at your own pace, pause at every opportunity, and take it all in.
Grade 1-2
You don't have to be a seasoned hiker to enjoy these walks, but someone who's happy to take on around 5-15km each day – with the occasional hill thrown in.
Grade 2
Expect to cover approximately 10-15km a day, across varied terrain with regular ascents and descents. You'll be challenged in places – but enjoy superb views.
Grade 2-3
Where rugged terrain goes hand in hand with the satisfaction of reaching a peak or high pass. Typically, days range between 7-20km and involve significant ascent and descent.
Grade 3
Our most thrilling walks involve full days on the trails, more challenging terrain, and testing ascents and descents, but there's still time to appreciate your surroundings.
Flexible
Choice of easier or harder routes, so that you can tailor most days to your requirements.
Easy walking holidays, Inntravel style
There are three key ingredients to our easy walking holidays (and Inntravel holidays in general): beguiling scenery; friendly, hand-picked hotels of character; and excellent regional cuisine.
Extensive route information
On an Inntravel walking holiday you can depend on our detailed, comprehensive route notes. Distilled from many years’ experience, brimming with up-to-date local information, think of our route notes as your portable and reliable guide. No need to spend precious time planning routes – simply set off and enjoy the views!
Your holiday, your way
