With so much art, history and glorious scenery to discover in Italy, cycling here is a real joy, especially given the superb cuisine and wines. On Inntravel cycling holidays in Italy, we encourage you to stop to admire frescoed churches and Renaissance masterpieces whenever the mood takes you – you’re not with a group, and have no luggage (we transfer it between hotels), so make the most of it, following our comprehensive route notes at your own pace.
Dazzlingly beautiful landscapes; delightful, family-run hotels and guesthouses chosen by us for their warm welcome; and delicious food and wines. These are the three essential ingredients of Inntravel holidays, and our cycling holidays in Italy are no different.
Reliable route notes
Lovingly compiled in-house, our route guides contain all the information you need to get from A to B independently, without missing out on the things that make for a full and varied holiday experience, such as the stories behind local customs and monuments. Updated constantly, they are totally reliable and like your own personal guide.
Your holiday, your way
Independent holidays offer so much more freedom than a group holiday. Pick a start date to suit you, build in extra nights at any hotel along the route, choose how you travel – by air, rail or ferry – and from where. You’ll also get to experience smaller, more intimate hotels and, best of all, you can be entirely spontaneous as you explore.
Expert advice
We’ve been offering holidays since 1984 and have built up a wealth of experience. Whenever you contact us, you’ll deal with friendly experts who share a passion for travel and who have stayed in our featured hotels and cycled our routes. They’ll be delighted to answer your queries and help you plan your perfect holiday.

How our Italian cycling holidays are graded
We design our cycling holidays in Italy with ‘amateur’ cyclists in mind, but some are easier than others. To be sure of choosing the cycling holiday in Italy that is right for you, learn how we grade them below. To widen your options, you can upgrade to an electric (e-)bike. (Our grading system assumes you are using a ‘regular’ bike, so if you choose an e-bike, you'll find the cycling considerably easier.)
Grade 1
Easy cycling for all with shorter days mainly on the flat, but some gentle ascents.
Grade 1-2
Easy-to-moderate cycling featuring undulating routes with more frequent short ascents, and a mix of shorter and longer days.
Grade 2
Moderate cycling with some longer, steady uphill sections, and longer days.
Grade 2-3
Fairly strenuous cycling featuring longer days with some sustained climbs. (We don't currently have any holidays at this level.)
Pedal at your own pace from one inviting hotel to the next on a self-guided cycling holiday in Italy. We transfer your luggage, and supply you with our tried-and-tested route notes and a high-quality bike, leaving you free to enjoy the magnificent Italian scenery.
