Mont Blanc and beyond
From Mont Blanc to the Matterhorn, hiking in the Alps promises captivating mountain-studded landscapes, wooden chalet-lined Alpine villages, and hearty, wholesome food that’s the perfect antidote to a day’s walking (Rösti and an array of artisan cheese are our favourites). They span eight countries, from France all the way to Slovenia, and within the valleys, mountains, glaciers, and lakes, well-marked paths make the Alps a joy to explore.
Where to walk in the Alps
The Tour du Mont Blanc takes some beating in terms of elevated walking, which includes the balcony path to Courmayeur with views of Mont Blanc’s south-west flanks and the crossing of Col de la Croix du Bonhomme. There’s also a thrilling trek from the Eiger to the Matterhorn in Switzerland. Trek from hotel to hotel along some of the best- and lesser-known routes 3,000m above sea level. Walking in the Alps doesn’t always mean challenging terrain – we have meticulously designed some easier strolls that allow time to savour the area’s rich heritage and cuisine, too.
