We are keen for as many customers as possible to review their holiday. To make it easier to do so, we include a specific review section on our post-holiday questionnaire, and this is what we publish here, unedited. Read our full review policy >
A brilliant, gastronomic holiday. All the hotels were welcoming, warm and delightful with excellent English. All went out of their way to make sure that we had a great time. We went by Eurostar and French railway, which is highly recommended. Such a relaxing way to travel. Take stretch waist trousers, with all the tremendous food you'll need them!
As a solo traveller I very much enjoyed this walking in the peaceful France profonde. The routes were varied. I walked through rural landscapes, alongside the Dordogne and enjoyed some bracing climbs in limestone country. Rocamadour is on a section of the Camino and is an extraordinary place.
Highly recommended.
Please see comments in the first box. We loved it. It was our first self-guided holiday and I am already looking at the brochure for future ideas! Thankyou to everyone at Inn Travel

We entrusted all arrangements and route-directions to Inntravel on friends' recommendation and, sure enough, they were superb. Thank you all for our week walking in the beautiful Dordogne seeing it from every angle and exploring its rich variety and history as well as sublime cuisine. Choosing just one highlight is unfair to all the others but we both felt the last day's walk from Hospitalet around the Gorge of Alzou to the medieval mill built into the rocks at the head of the valley was spectacular. It combined sun-drenched cliff-top panoramas with river-bed treks where the dappled green light danced through a canopy of tall trees and the pure air was unforgettable.
We were really pleased to have extended the 2nd and 4th hotel and wish the 1st hotel had an option to extend as well, we might have gone canoeing if time had allowed. All in all a fabulous holiday Thank you
Excellent hotels and all the meals were good, especially dinner at Hotel Pont du l'Ossysse. All the breakfasts were substantial and good. The walks were fine, the highlight being the last one on the final day. The wild flowers and butterflies were amazing.
The walk to the mill on the last day was outstanding. Another very enjoyable holiday with Inntravel. It met all our expectations.
The walks were all in beautiful countryside. The river Dordogne is quite a sight to see. Temperatures were high for the first few days and then we had a very wet walk to Rocamadour. Still very nice though and spectacular to walk into. Food was generally very good.
This holiday exceeded expectations. Wonderful hotels, amazing meals, very accurate walking notes for lovely walks. Thank you!
If you are travelling in spring take an app on your phone to help identify the dozens of kinds of wild flowers. The highlight of our walk by far.
The quality of the food everywhere, except the Belvedere, was outstanding, better than any other Inntravel trip we have taken. Rocamadour is one of the most striking towns we have visited.
I was disappointed when unable to complete this as a walking holiday, but every kindness was shown by hoteliers and others, so I still enjoyed myself.
We got to know the other people who had booked with Inntravel at the same time, and swapped notes each evening, as well as eating dinner together. This level of social interaction added greatly to the holiday. We would have liked you to tell us during booking who else was going to be there at the same time.
This was our 9th walking holiday with Inntravel and we chose this particular holiday for less strenuous walking than we have opted for previously. Having said that we found the walks to be strenuous enough to feel that you had earned your meal at the end of the day and the quality of the walks kept improving through the week. Lots of wild flowers (we counted nine varieties of orchids) and butterflies to enjoy as well as very vocal but elusive songbirds. The only thing that was missing really was that the walks did not pass through many villages or "sights" to stop off at and explore; the mill at Caugnaguet was fun and worth stopping at (note that it closes from 1200 to 1400 and they do not speak English although English notes are provided and you are still included in the tours and free firewater). Hotels were exactly what we have come to rely on from Inntravel - very good indeed and welcoming (special mention for Hotel Le Pont de l'Ouysse) and food on the whole was terrific although it was a bit of a shame that the Restaurant Belvedere at Hospitalet at the end of the week, while OK, did not match what had gone before. (The included meals here were from a limited fixed menu but we did find on the second night that they were willing to allow us to choose from the a la carte for which they made no additional charge.) A very enjoyable and relaxing week.
Our annual Inntravel walk and it was a good one. Lots of wild flowers, including many orchids, birds including cuckoos -one with hiccups- and butterflies. All the hotels were good, and the food excellent. The caves at Lacave were really worth the visit, as was the mill at Cougnaguet. We arrived just before it closed for lunch but were made very welcome and enjoyed the firewater at the end. Not so sure what we'll do with the free bag of walnut flour. We did the short circuit to Rocamadour on the last day, so had plenty of time to wander round the village itself and climb up to the Sanctuaries, then up the Way of the Cross to the hilltop road to l'Hospitalet. Be warned - no-one sold stamps for abroad so if you send post cards, which are plentiful, buy stamps in a large town before you go!
At Rocamadour it is well worth being at the viewing platform in L'Hospitalet as darkness falls to see the medieval area floodlit.
The working mill of Cougnaguet is most definitely worth a visit. A remarkable building run by an elderly couple who delight in demonstrating the workings of the mill. They are closed from noon - 14:00 so care needs to be taken to time the walk appropriately.
These walks are very much in rural France with really no meaningful opportunity to buy provisions en route. Additionally there are virtually no places to sit on a wayside bench to lunch on your picnic. We managed adequately, but with showery conditions to contend with, this did mean sitting on the grass was not a viable option without a waterpoof item to sit upon.
For a last-minute booking, this was an excellent holiday, impeccably organised. Thank you!
This was an enjoyable trip through the French countryside with outstanding food and accommodation. Be prepared for some steep pitches on the walks which require a reasonable level of fitness.
A great holiday. Inntravel found the best places to stay - with excellent and helpful hosts, wonderful walking routes, super logistics; they solved problems in real time when my luggage did not arrive from my flight in to France.
HIGHLIGHTS: Walking on the cliff tops! Watching the eagles soar over Rocamadour and hearing the frog chorus while eating our picnic at Le Goufre!
Once again, we had a really fantastic holiday with thanks, as always, for your knowledge, experience and smooth customer service. We always enjoy the small independent hotels you source and the friendliness of the teams there who make our stay really special. The food was exceptional this time around particularly and the walks great too. We had mixed weather with it being so early in the season but it didn't stop us enjoying the beautiful scenery. We're looking at where to go next already...!
We thoroughly enjoyed visiting Rocamadour but realised we missed out on what looked like a fantastic walk. We wished we had added an extra day to have been able to do both, and would advise others to do that.
The paths were of consistently high quality.
This was our second time with Inntravel. After a blissful (if energetic) walking tour of Tuscany in 2018, this time we used them for a tailored holiday - a 3-day stay in Rocamadour. The Troubadour was even better than we had hoped for, a classy, comfortable and relaxing hotel, with generous breakfasts, comfortable beds and lovely views over open country, yet only a 15 minute stroll from the restaurants and services at the top of the old town.
What a wonderful walk - great accommodation, great food, spectacular walks in the quiet countryside. A good variety of forests, farms, tiny villages and mostly interesting tracks - some road walking inevitable, but it was never for long. Thanks Inntravel - it's been a long 3 COVID years since our last adventure.
We enjoyed all of the walks on this trip but the Alzou canyon on the final day was the highlight. We had planned to relax on the final day but at the last minute decided to do the shorter route, and hotel owner kindly provided a picnic at short notice, and once into the canyon we just kept walking round the full circuit and didn't regret a moment of it.
We had the most wonderful, relaxing holiday. It's difficult to pick out highlights as so many aspects were superb: the landscape, the wild flowers, the birds (including nightingales), butterflies, paths, woodlands, beautiful rivers, villages, and of course the hotels and their welcome and fantastic food and drink. We also enjoyed swimming in their pools, two of which were not heated. We were overwhelmed by the wild flowers, particularly the density and variety of orchids in the woodlands. Carpets of orchids is not something you experience in this country. Places that we enjoyed on the way: Mayrinhac le Francal, Fontaine de Truffe, where a diver was about to plunge in, Moulin de Cougnaguet, where the owner gave us a spirited tour (quite literally, at the end), the Gouffre de Cabouy (never seen anything like it) and les Alix.
