This list of flight options should be used as a guide only, and you should check each airline’s website for current routes, frequency and schedules. Not all flights operate daily, and may not run for the entire season. You should also heed the latest flight arrival time and earliest flight departure time, as it may not be possible to arrange connecting travel outside these times. Please do not book your flights until we have confirmed your accommodation to you. Alternatively, our expert reservations team will be happy to offer advice and to make flight bookings for you for any of the options listed above. We charge £35 per person for our flight booking service. Your flights are then covered by our package-booking conditions, which give you greater protection in the event of delay or cancellation, as well as providing ATOL cover.

We are keen for as many customers as possible to review their holiday. To make it easier to do so, we include a specific review section on our post-holiday questionnaire, and this is what we publish here, unedited. Read our full review policy >
This was not a walking holiday but there was plenty of walking involved as we strolled around our 3 locations admiring the baroque architecture of Lecce, the whitewashed houses in the narrow streets of Locorotondo and the seafront/old town of Trani. We had been to Alberobello on a previous trip so chose to have a look at Martina Franca instead, worth visiting, but Alberobello with its Trulli is an amazing place and a must if this is a first visit to the area. Travelling in November meant that places were pretty quiet; most visitors appeared to be Italian. Temperatures were very comfortable to start with – 20 degrees in Lecce but cooler by the end of our week, light fleeces required. Train travel was efficient and easy (apart from a somewhat complicated morning with a transport strike).
Our hotels – the Palazzo Rollo in Lecce (beautiful marble floors and state of the art shower), the Albergo Diffuso in Locorotondo ( rustic charm in a converted village dwelling) and the Palazzo Filisio in Trani (right opposite the cathedral and by the sea) were all comfortable, staff welcoming and helpful. Menus were largely seafood but with enough other dishes to suit those who are not seafood fans. (We added on 3 independent days in the Gargano Peninsula after our Inntravel week and would recommend a look at Inntravel’s holiday there).
Note 1: Inntravel recommended taking a taxi to the Lecce hotel – we walked, very straightforward.
Note 2: Taking the train from Bari airport to the station requires a 10 minute walk to the train. It’s much easier to get the shuttle bus right outside, takes you directly to the station, costs no more. (If you fancy a meandering route around the suburbs of Bari, take bus 16! ) These are the only 2 buses outside arrivals, nice and simple.
We thought that with all the travelling involved, especially including the options of visiting Alberobello/Martina Franca/Barletta and Molfetta, the trip merited 3 nights in each hotel rather than 2. We had 3 nights in Trani and found it just right to see Trani and Molfetta. We omitted Barletta.
