The three hotels on Lake Iseo were lovely. We felt v indulged. The breakfasts were magnificent in all three hotels and the dinners in Due Roccoli were delicious. We also enjoyed going out for dinner in the final hotel and also in Verona. This gave us more of a flavour of the locality and culture. Altogether the mix was good.
We had a lovely couple of days in Verona - look out for the pre-Roman Archeological museum which is very impressive and has information in English and Italian. We then caught a train to Innsbruck and Seefeld for the Leutash Valley holiday. We were fortunate to miss the exceptionally early snowfall the previous week and were blessed with sunshine and snowy peaks. Early Autumn is a good time to go with the leaves starting to turn. Best walk was day 3 around Gaistal valley. Best Hotel was Intalerhof with amazing views.
Get rooms with lakeside views and the highlight walk was around Monte Isola.
if booking Verona look at possibility of seeing a concert in the Arena

This was a very enjoyable holiday with as usual perfect arrangements made bu Inntravel. The Golden Rose is a lovely hotel, the food was excellent and the staff all very helpful. We had all weathers from snow, high winds (closing the cable car) to lovely sunshine. We were very lucky in that we were able to see the Transhumance, which was quite an occasion. The walks were all interesting but weather prevented us undertaking the walk to and from the Bella Vista refuge. The local tourist bus to the Fosse valley was excellent with plenty of time to explore. The gardens at Trauttmansdorf Castle were exceptional although far to much to see in one day. The hotel recommended the train to get from Naturno to Merano as we didn't want to cycle and this would avoid the traffic on the bus, however the train was absolutely packed and not much fun! Verona was lovely after our Dolomite trip and we split the walking tour over 2 days which made it very relaxing. Breakfast at the Hotel Indigo was very good and a meal at the restaurant Greppia - excellent with a good atmosphere. Booking essential.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This customer did our Discovery Walking Holiday 'Traditions of South Tyrol' followed by our city add-on in Verona.
Our Verona city break at the start of our holiday was really enjoyable, much enhanced by the walking notes and the central position of the hotel. The old part of the city is full of charm and history with plenty of shady cafes and seats to rest on in the heat of the day. We purchased the Verona card which we felt was worth it to enable us to visit the best sights, although we were rather disappointed it didn't include the Giardino Giusti which was an extra. The hotel staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and booked evening meals for us on both our nights there. We would definitely recommend Restaurant Greppia set in a little square with a lovely atmosphere.
Walking in the Dolomites was absolutely beautiful in early June when we were able to fully appreciate the spring flowers everywhere. The chosen walks were all very different. Our favouite walk was from the the top of the Alpe di Siusi gondola, accessed in the village. The views were spectacular and walking just right. However we also enjoyed the walk from the Resciesa Funicular which took us to very different scenery full of more wild flowers, particularly the deep blue Gentians which were incredible. Over our week's stay we recorded over 50 different wild flowers but sure there were more we just didn't spot. It was good to have low level walking options too, as unfortunately the clouds we often obscuring the higher peaks later in our week and it was quite cold. it was exciting to get to the top of the Seceda cable car and find a lot of snow in June! Hotel La Perla was very comfortable and a lovely place to come back to at the end of a long walk. The snacks and cake provided late afternoon a welcome indulgence with a cup of tea overlooking the mountains. Then relaxing in the outdoor infinity pool was a real treat. The facilites and staff friendliness were excellent and meals all of a very high standard with plenty of choice.
Inntravel contacted us at the end of our stay with a new itinerary for our homeward travel due to a train strike, including new tickets for a Flixbus and new timings. It was all seamless, extremely efficient and a great relief. We would not have been aware of the strike otherwise. Thank you Inntravel, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to explore the area further one day.
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This customer did our city add-on in Verona followed by our walking holiday 'A Stroll in the Italian Dolomites (Hotel La Perla)'.
A wonderful holiday and the stay in Verona before going to Ortisei works really well. Both hotels were welcoming and just right. Guilletta e Romeo is very well placed for exploring the city and La Perla with its mini bus transport into Ortisei and the ski lifts was ideal - also good food. Some super walks even the weather was not ideal.

We absolutely loved our holiday on the Italian lakes and Verona. Fabulous scenery, great walking, lovely hotels, amazing weather and excellent food and drink, what more could anyone ask for?
INNTRAVEL NOTE: This customer combined our walking holidays 'Lake Orta to Lake Maggiore' and 'A Taste of Lake Garda', followed by our Verona city add-on.
Gargnano was a delight! So peaceful yet characterful, lots of great places to eat and drink and watch the world go by. The Hotel Gardenia al Lago, and in particular the staff, were exceptional and we would highly recommend. The visit to the owner's lemon garden was a complete delight, his passion really shone through and it was so interesting. So much to see and do around the lake, but do be aware that out of season the ferry services are somewhat limited, with fast ferries only operating at weekends. Walks around the area are wonderful, fabulous views and really off the beaten track routes. The Villa Bettoni, just a few minutes' walk from the hotel is well worth a visit, a special place. We'd also highly recommend Civico 20, tiny restaurant close to the hotel with the warmest of welcomes and delicious food. We'd love to return to visit the places the weather and ferries didn't allow on this trip and would highly recommend the holiday. We added a couple of nights in Verona too, which was a great end to a really wonderful holiday. Thanks again Inntravel!

Very well organised holiday to two lovely hotels. Worth upgrading at Gardenia hotel for lake view and really enjoyed breakfast on the terrace only feet from the lake. The walks were not too strenuous but in the hot weather conditions they were appropriate. Good city style hotel in Verona and staff at both hotels could not have been more helpful. Cannot think of any improvements and we are seriously considering repeating the holiday next year as there were several walks and towns we would still like to visit.

Tourism in Italy is getting expensive. The ferries on Lake Garda and cable car were very expensive. Where possible, it is much cheaper to take the buses, which are regular and generally timely. We particulary enjoyed the Valle Cartiere walk (Walk 3) and the Tignale walks (Walk 4). We split the latter by doing route A on one day and then from Gardola back to Gargnano on another day. Perhaps these should be offered as 2 separate walks that can be joined together, rather than a short and a long walk option. The Verona card is worth buying if you want to visit several historical sites - start early in the morning with the Arena and Juliet's balcony to avoid the crowds.
